1 - The look
The choice of styles, colours and designs of floor tiles is so broad there’s something to suit everyone and all styles of home.

From travertine for a classic interior, to large-format white ceramic tiles for a minimalist look and geometric porcelain tiles for a contemporary look, the choice is endless. And these days, tiles are not just for the wet areas; digital imaging and glazing technology mean they look sensational and are practical in larger spaces too.

One of the best recent innovations is timber look tiles that have all the character of a timber floor, knots and all, but the attributes of a tiled floor including being water-resistant, durable and long-lasting.

2 - The convenience
Tiles are relatively simple to lay by a qualified tiler. Once installed they are easy to keep clean, with regular vacuuming or sweeping and occasional mopping; being sure to use non-abrasive and non-acidic products. In fact, soap and water is fine. Ceramic and porcelain tiles in particular are known for their resilience and long-lasting characteristics. Most tiles will last for a lifetime if cared for properly.

3 - They are low maintenance
Tile floors that are glazed require very little maintenance and many of the grouts on the market are fully stain-resistant. Tiles are also great at withstanding water and various spills. They are also fabulous for households with pets.

4 - They have health benefits
Glazed tiles are particularly good for homes in areas with hot climates – they are naturally cooling underfoot and because of their non-porous nature, can effectively diffuse heat in a room. Unglazed clay tiles have the capacity to store and spread heat evenly through an area – especially if they’re exposed to the sun - so are good in houses that require heating.

5  - They are affordable
Ceramic tiles in particular are great value for money, especially when compared to other flooring options. Glazed ceramic tiles can be painted etched or manipulated to create various designed or natural effects - for instance mimicking stone tiles - all for a better price. In fact, tiles cover the range of price points so whether you need an affordable option or your dream tile floor, you’ll be covered.
